Missions
At Central Valley Presbyterian church, we desire to see the Gospel grow within our families and local church. We equally desire to see the Gospel travel throughout the world to reach all of God's elect. Therefore, we encourage our members to personally fulfill the Great Commission and to take the Good News of Christ's ministry, death, burial and resurrection to the very ends of the earth.
We have also partnered with several local and foreign missionairies/organizations to aid in our outreach and ministry.
Local Ministry
Advancing Vibrant Communities - www.vibrantcommunities.org
One of our favorite local ministries in the Central Valley of California is called "Advancing Vibrant Communities." This organization was founded locally to help the local church meet the needs in our own communities. In their own words, they "help connect real answers with real needs!"
CVP has partnered with Advancing Vibrant Communities in two specific ways: First, we financially donate to the needs of this ministry. Second, we regularly evaluate the list of needs and opportunities on the AVC website and do our best to meet those needs.
Foreign Missions
Come Over and Help (COAH) - www.coah.org
We financially support the work that COAH is doing in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. COAH works to build churches, sponsor/aid pastors, build orphanages, and publish Christian doctrine and theology (reformed, puritanical writings).
This is truly a unique ministry and one that we feel fits our vision for missions and ministry.
Field and Hearth - Field and Hearth Blog
Former Central Valley residents, the entire Todd Adams family have been missionaries to Eastern Canada since 2004. Spending their winters on the icy Iles de la Madeleine (Magdalen Islands) just off Prince Edward Island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence of Quebec, Canada, the Adams minister to individuals and families in crisis. They often use their family to minister to others that regularly ask "Why would anyone from California move here during the winter time?"
CVP has been blessed as a church to have the opportunity to not only support this ministry financially, but to send members of our church to spend time with the Adams "on the field."
The Slawson Family - Siberian Grits Blog
The Thomas Slawson family is ministering in St. Petersburg Russia with Interact Ministries. Their vision is as follows: "Our desire is to see the gospel of Jesus Christ transforming the lives of the peoples of Russia by ministering to children with disabilities and by serving within local churches to bring about reformation."
As a church that equips families to engage the world together, we are thrilled to partner with an entire family that serves and ministers together on the mission field.
